A doorway into your essence

Vocal toning is one of the most direct ways to come home to yourself. Through sound, breath and gentle attention, you can release emotional blockages, regulate your nervous system and activate your cells through subtle vibration. Connecting deeper with your essence through your unique voice.

This page is a gateway into the practice — a brief introduction, a vowel toning journey through the chakras, and a variation with bija mantras and mudras that can help you to fine tune on the energetic side. You can play with the practice and the duration of the toning to either do a brief check in with your bodies and a reset or go deeper into a meditative state by extending the duration of the practice (i.e. chanting 5 minutes for each chakra).

The most important thing: this Somatic practice is about having fun and exploring your being with your own voice. There is no requirement to be able to sing. Crackling, squeaking and weird sounds are more than welcome.

I hope you're enjoying the practice as much as I do and I'd really recommend trying it a few times as it gets deeper and deeper - like you are conditioning your body towards it. You can do the toning everywhere, even when washing the dishes or driving. It's one of the few practices I've kept coming back to over the past five years as it does so many things at once.
